The Oasis

The Oasis is our worship based prayer gathering on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary.  However, this is like no Wednesday night prayer meeting you've ever been to!  With no set agenda, members and visitors alike gather to seek the Lord through worship, prayer, the reading of scriptures and ministry to those with special needs and requests.  Come and join us!  You will be blessed.

Share your story:  Has the Lord ministered to you in a special way as a result of your participation in The Oasis?  We encourage you to share your experience with us.  Paul said, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into HIm who is the Head, that is, Christ"  (Ephesians 4:15).

THE OASIS JOURNAL

Pastoral Challenge in 2008:  Give corporate prayer a priority and seek God together in The Oasis.  The early church devoted themselves to prayer...it has to move beyond "convenient prayer" and there are things He won't do until we're devoted to Him in prayer.  In the Oasis, we pray that we would decrease and God would increase.

Note: These summaries capture how the Lord has moved corporately in The Oasis.  This journal may not list the many ways in which the Lord ministers and speaks personally to those who come.

With Pastor Chris out of town attending District Conference in Tallahassee, Red Fearney led our prayer time.
PRAISE! Brother had 3 opportunities this week to witness. Pray that God uses these moments for His glory.
God is working in lives - students graduating, protection, provision, granting wisdom, providing healing.
Pray for those affected by the recent storm in Burma - the death toll could reach over 500,000!
Pray also for our missionaries, Mark & Dee Krueger, who are trying to start a medical ministry in Guinea, but are facing stiff opposition.
Many need wisdom for decisions they are facing.

PRAISE! Learning to pray and worship corporately is a work in progress - and it's not always easy to open up, but this week I've received an encouraging rebuke! Sunday was my first time to teach Children's Church, and I really prayed over it and prepared for the lessons on Psalm 100 - it was going along very well. The children were playing a game where each one would say something they praised God for as they tossed a ball to each other. One little girl caught the ball, and held it up over her mouth and spoke at a barely audible level. I tried to talk to her about what she wanted to say, but she just couldn't speak out loud. What a picture of my own heart. Ironically, teaching children about the joys of prayer, praising and worship, while still keeping bottled up and silent so often. Thank you, Lord for the Oasis and for PC who doesn't let us forget that it's all about you.

Joshua 4:1-8
As we look back on what God has done - we can have faith in where God is leading us because of His faithfulness in the past. There are many "memorials" in our lives - we need to remember them.

PRAISE! 26 Children auditioned for the summer musical! Brother with health concerns lost 15 pounds in a month! God has been bringing scripture to a sister during difficult times! Another sister needed finances from separated husband - and God provided richly in his perfect timing!
Ps 34:17; Matt 5:3-9
Extended prayer for healing and for deliverance of fear and anxiety.

PC taught on Psalm 23 in depth. God is ceaselessly pursuing us to rest, so that we can be intimate with Him even during the difficult times.

What motivates your praises to God?
1. Feeling? - When things go well, we're happy. Our praise shouldn't be based on circumstances. Habakkuk 3:17-18; James 1:2
2. Faith - Regardless of what happens...I will praise Him. 1 Thes 5:16,18; Phil 4:4; Psalm 150:8

Genesis 12:1-3
No matter what form faith takes, it always requires leaving. You can't stay where you are and go with God.
Status Quo is sin!
What is God asking us (personally and corporately) to leave behind?
